Coming from missionary backgrounds, couple Mike and Charisse Mercado set out to build a dairy business where God is first and where Pinoy dairymen have a voice. Both graduates of the University of the Philippines - Los Banos, Mike took up Agribusiness Management while Charisse finished an Economics degree. It is not surprising that they chose to grow roots in the dairy business, where there is boundless opportunity to help and improve lives of people – farmers and dairymen from small cooperatives and its shop employees alike.
Milk Planet Co. is the marketing arm of small, local dairy cooperatives. “This business was put up more for the helping of farmers which is one of our joys,” Mike said. passion in revolutionizing the dairy business stems from its desire to ensure that the local, dairy cooperatives it supports, will have a constant market to absorb its raw milk production. This joint effort with dairy cooperatives allows dairymen to breed cows, carabao and goats with high productivity and pedigree producing only the highest quality and best tasting milk.
now has 8 branches (Silang, Cavite / Tagaytay City / Aguinaldo Hi-Way / South Supermarket Santa Rosa / South Supermarket Filinvest, Alabang / Solenad Nuvali Santa Rosa / SM Megamall , Ortigas / Terazzo Mall, Scout Rotonda, Q.C. ) and a week-end stall in Nuvali, Santa Rosa. This 2013, decided to expand its business further and so franchises are on the way.

Sensitive to the needs of small dairy cooperatives, pays (in full amount), for the dairy products on the very day of its delivery. even shoulders the cost of products beyond expiry to help the farmers minimize their cost. This allows for the small cooperatives to provide fair living and proper working conditions for their Koop members and workers, even allowing them to invest in additional delivery vehicles, improve their facilities and the like. Mike is very personal in relating to its suppliers, even paying visits to dairy farms and attending their Koop meetings. Mike’s close supervision ensures products retain its premium status.
Naturally, guarantees fair wage to its shop employees, giving them more than the required wage for workers prescribed by the government. On top of this, the “Best Employee of the Month” gets 5 kilos of rice while employees with perfect attendance get an additional Php500 on their salary. The “Best in Sales” and “Best Employee of the Year” are also selected and rewarded with appliances. Seeking to employ under graduates from provinces, continues to improve the lives of its employees and their families.
